Carved into the lid is a Deesis, a traditional Byzantine icon depicting Christ Panocractor, flanked by the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist, and archangels. The sides of the casket are decorated by roundels with portraits of Saints, alongside Greek inscriptions stating each of the saint's names. The saints included on the front include Paul, Peter, James, and Andrew; on the right side, Phillip, and Thomas; and on the left side; Bartholomew and Simon.
